Assault with Weapon – Arrest: C24-173553

On July 27, 2024 at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers assigned to Special Duty at a retail grocery store in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West were approcached by two victims regarding an adult male armed with a sharped edged weapon.

Officers attended the parking lot, located the suspect male, and arrested him without incident. During the search of the suspect, officers located and seized two knives which were seized as evidence.

During their investigation, officers learned the suspect approached the victims, a 56-year-old male and a 56-year-old female, in the parking lot of the business where he threatened both while brandishing two knives. The victims attended to the grocery store where they summoned assistance from the officers.

Francois Roger BIGHETTY, 56, of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault with a Weapon x 2
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 5

He was detained in custody.
