On September 21, 2023, members of the Winnipeg Police Service were alerted to the presence of a firearm within a suite in a multi-room residential building in the West End neighbourhood.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers, assisted by members of the Tactical Support Team, attended the involved residence in the 500 block of Burnell Street and extracted three occupants from the residence. In the interest of public safety, officers searched and located the following property within the residence, which they seized as evidence:
- A Loaded Sawed-off .22 calibre Rifle
- A Sawed-off 12-guage Shotgun with Magazine containing Ammunition x 3
- Various Shotgun Ammunition
- Over 100 Grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value: $5,000)
- Digital Scales
- Packaging Materials
Shelton Edwin FONTAINE, 31, of Winnipeg, is charged with various firearm and drug-related offences. He was detained in custody.
A 27-year-old female and a 35-year-old female from Winnipeg face similar charges and were released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
