Update:

A twenty-three-year-old male, Everett Patterson KING, has been identified as the victim of a homicide on September 10. The Homicide Unit has arrested and charged a 21-year-old male, Dartanian Francesco Martin PACKULUK, with Second Degree Murder.

Investigators determined the deceased and the accused were not previously known to each other when they attended a gathering at a residence in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue. After leaving, they had another encounter outside, where the victim was fatally shot.

As previously released:

On September 10, 2023, at approximately 12:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of Mountain Avenue for a report of a male who had been shot.

General Patrol officers attended and located a 23-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.

Majors Crimes Unit members were initially notified; however, the Homicide Unit has since assumed the investigation.
