On August 26, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a multi-room residence in the 500 block of Furby Street for a report of a male who had been shot.

Central District General Patrol officers attended and located an unresponsive adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided emergency medical care for the victim by providing CPR before ambulance arrived. He was transported to hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. The suspect(s) fled before police arrived.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation and identified the victim as 38-year-old Cory Roger ROULETTE of Winnipeg. Notifications to the family have been made.
