Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C23-183691

On July 29, 2023, at approximately 7:00 a.m., an East District Winnipeg Police Service cruiser car was flagged down by a male in the first 100 block of Goulet Street.

The male (in his 50s) is an athlete from abroad in the city for the World Police and Fire Games. While attending a nearby fast food restaurant, he witnessed an altercation between two females and attempted to intervene. One of the females bear sprayed the other female and then sprayed the male victim in the face as he approached. The suspect fled on foot, and the female victim left before being identified or receiving assistance.

Police units searched the area and quickly located the suspect walking in the 100 block of Marion Street, and she was taken into custody.

The victim received medical assistance from WFPS.  

A 25-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing charges of Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon. She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
