Attempt Murder – Arrest: C23-181159

On July 26, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the Burrows/Central neighbourhood for the report of a stabbing incident involving a child.

General Patrol officers from the North District located a 6-year-old male child with serious injuries. The officers provided immediate life-saving emergency medical care, including using a chest seal. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and was eventually upgraded to stable condition.

A female in her 20s was taken into custody on scene and charged with the following offences:

- Attempt to Commit Murder

- Aggravated Assault

- Possession of a Weapon

She was detained in custody.

The Child Abuse Unit is continuing with this investigation. The accused and the victim are known to each other, and the accused will not be named out of privacy considerations for the victim in this matter.
