Robbery – Arrests: C22-160606

On July 18, 2022, at 9:38 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Arlington Street for a report of an attempted robbery. A passerby had observed a male being stabbed by several youths who had since run off.

Upon arrival, officers located an injured 51-year-old male and began to administer emergency medical care, including the use of a chest seal. The victim was transported to a hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.

Firearm – Arrests: C22-160148

On July 18, 2022, the North District Community Support Unit and the Tactical Support Team assisted Manitoba Justice’s Public Safety Investigations Unit with an eviction at a residence in the 400 block of Flora Avenue.

Two individuals were taken into police custody, and a loaded 12 gauge firearm and ammunition were seized.

Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C22-157441

On July 15, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to school grounds located in the first 100 block of Neville Street for the report of an adult female camp counsellor who had been assaulted.

Shooting – Arrest: C22-158164

On July 16, 2022, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of shots fired near a fast food parking lot in the 1100 block of Main Street.

Investigators learned the accused became involved in an altercation with two males in the area. During this altercation, the accused fired a gun in their direction. The victims in this incident fled and have not been identified.

Police located the accused nearby. He was arrested and in possession of a firearm, and the investigation was turned over to the Major Crimes Unit for follow-up.

Homicide – Arrest: C22:157369

On July 15, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a wellbeing check for an injured male at a hotel in the 1600 block of Regent Avenue West.

A 33-year-old male from St. Theresa Pointe, Belton MASON, was located deceased within one of the suites.

The Homicide Unit took over the investigation, and a 17-year-old male from St. Theresa Point was subsequently arrested. He is facing the charge of manslaughter and is detained in custody.

Homicide – Update: C22:157659

As previously released:
On July 15, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of Burnell Street for the report of an injured male who had been found by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attending to a fire alarm at this location.

Officers from the Central District attended and located an adult male suffering from upper-body injuries within the residence. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

Update:

Strongarm Robbery – Arrest: C22-158426

On July 16, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to the report of an armed robbery that occurred in the 300 block of Kennedy Street.

Central District officers responded and, through their investigation, identified a male suspect. At approximately 2:00 p.m., with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, officers attended to a residence in the 300 block of Kennedy Street and safely placed a male in custody.

Officers recovered the stolen property, a firearm (determined to be a replica handgun), and several other weapons.

Strongarm Robbery – Arrests: C22-95512

In May of 2022, the Major Crimes Unit took over investigations regarding multiple violent Strongarm Robberies, which occurred in the city’s North, Central, and South areas between May 7 and June 14.

Homicide – Investigation: C22-157659

On July 15, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of Burnell Street for the report of an injured male who had been found by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attending to a fire alarm at this location.

Carjacking – Arrests: C22-157886

On July 15, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 1300 block of McPhillips Street for the report of a male who had been robbed.

Officers from the North District attended and located an adult male suffering from the effects of being sprayed with an unknown substance. The 23-year-old victim sustained a minor injury for which he did not require medical assistance.
