Strongarm Robbery – Arrests: C22-95512

In May of 2022, the Major Crimes Unit took over investigations regarding multiple violent Strongarm Robberies, which occurred in the city’s North, Central, and South areas between May 7 and June 14.

Investigators identified multiple suspects believed to be involved with the robberies where unsuspecting victims were assaulted and robbed of their personal property. The victims were beaten and sustained various upper-body injuries while being robbed of their personal property, including cellular phones and personal effects. Investigators believe the attacks were unprovoked.

On July 14, investigators arrested three suspects at their residence without incident.

A 13-year-old female youth of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Robbery x 5
- Assault
- Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card

A 13-year-old female youth of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Assault
- Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card

A 14-year-old female youth of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Robbery x 3
- Assault

The suspects and victims were previously unknown to one another.

They were released on undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.

Additional arrests are anticipated.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating a strongarm robbery in the 300 block of Sargent Avenue.

On May 7, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the victim in her twenties and a group of unknown females exited a bus near Balmoral/Sargent. While the victim was waiting for another bus, she was unexpectedly assaulted by the females. They stole her personal belongings and fled on foot. A passerby stopped and called 911; the victim subsequently sought medical attention on her own.

The incidents are being investigated by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
