Aggravated Assault – Arrests: C22-220418

On September 22, 2022, at 10:52 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, responded to a hotel in the 300 block of Ellice Avenue for a report of a female that had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located a seriously injured 20-year-old female victim. She was subsequently transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Soon after, two female suspects were located near Balmoral Street and Portage Avenue, at which time they were taken into custody. Two knives were found and seized.

Community Bike Theft Project – Arrests: R22-47700

On September 14, 2022, the North District Community Support Unit conducted a “bait bike” project in response to an influx of bike thefts reported since June in the Garden City/West Kildonan shopping areas.

Officers engaged with businesses in the vicinity who submitted reports and had video surveillance of bicycles being stolen from the immediate area.

Break & Enters – Arrest: C22-156765

The Property Crime Unit and Central District’s Community Support Unit have arrested a male with ten break-ins and other property-related offences occurring between July and September 2022.

Most incidents occurred within the Daniel McIntyre neighbourhood, typically involving a house or garage being broken into during a seemingly random time of day or night.

- On July 14, a victim noticed his tools listed on an online classified site. The property had been stolen from him during a break-in to his garage. The tools were later recovered.

Carjacking – Investigation: C22-219024

Members of the Major Crimes Unit are investigating a carjacking of a 72-year-old female in the Norwood East area.

It is believed that on September 21, 2022, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the victim had returned to her parked SUV in the area of Tache Avenue and Horace Street when a male suspect confronted her. The suspect tried to take her keys from her hand and began punching her. He then dragged her out of the vehicle and stole it.

The victim suffered injuries and was subsequently transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Robbery – Public Assistance Requested: C22-162848

The Major Crimes Unit is asking the public for help with a violent robbery that occurred on July 20, 2022, in the area of Hargrave Street and Ellice Avenue.

It is believed that a 62-year-old female victim, who uses a wheelchair, was in a nearby back lane when she was attacked from behind and fell to the ground – sustaining a severe injury that left her hospitalized for over a month. During the incident, her personal property, including jewellery and wallet, was stolen.

Homicide – Arrests: C22-146244

As previously released:

On July 3, 2022, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of shots in the Parc La Salle neighbourhood.

Police located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound at a residence in the 200 block of Houde Drive. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Salah Falah Hasan, a 59-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Robbery – Arrests: C22-218310

On September 20, 2022, at 10:00 p.m., West District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, responded to the 200 block of Queen Street for a report of a robbery at gunpoint.

Upon arrival, officers located two victims – a male (in his 20s) and a female (in her 20s). The two friends reported being in the area when confronted at gunpoint by two suspects (a male and a female). Both victims were robbed of their belongings, and the male victim was struck with a firearm.

Robbery – Arrests: C22-217384

On September 19, 2022, at 11:44 p.m., East District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit and AIR1, responded to the 500 block of St. Mary’s Road for a report of a male and female both believed to be armed with a firearm and chasing a male. A gunshot had also been heard.

Upon arrival, officers could not locate a victim but were later flagged down by a witness who reported seeing a female on the hood of a nearby vehicle.

Assault – Investigation: C22-218307

On September 20, 2022, at 9:57 p.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to the area of Keewatin Street and Logan Avenue for a report of a male that had been assaulted.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim (in his 20s) at a nearby restaurant who had been stabbed several times and suffered the effects of bear spray. Emergency first aid was administered, including the use of three tourniquets. He was transported to a hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

Robbery – Investigation: C22-216242

On September 18, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a male in distress in a back alley in the 500 block of Balmoral Street.

Central District General Patrol officers located an unconscious 59-year-old adult male suffering from upper body injuries. Officers provided emergency medical care before paramedics arrived. The male was transported to hospital in unstable condition and subsequently upgraded to stable.
