Break & Enters – Arrest: C22-156765

The Property Crime Unit and Central District’s Community Support Unit have arrested a male with ten break-ins and other property-related offences occurring between July and September 2022.

Most incidents occurred within the Daniel McIntyre neighbourhood, typically involving a house or garage being broken into during a seemingly random time of day or night.

- On July 14, a victim noticed his tools listed on an online classified site. The property had been stolen from him during a break-in to his garage. The tools were later recovered.

- On July 30, a victim had her garage broken into and her garden tools stolen.

- On August 1, a victim had his garage broken into. His bike and a pizza oven were stolen.

- On August 5, a victim had his garage broken into, and a speaker was stolen.

- On August 13, a victim had his garage broken into.

- On August 22, a victim had his garage broken into, and various tools were stolen. Officers later recovered the tools at two different pawn shops.

- On September 2, a victim had her residence and garage broken into. A double-barrelled shotgun was stolen from the house.

- On September 4, a victim had his residence broken into, and numerous items (valued at over $2,000) were stolen.

- On September 7, a victim had her garage broken into, and a bike carrier for a dog was stolen.

- On September 9, the same victim from September 7 had her camper trailer nearly stolen. When confronted, the suspect threatened her with bolt-cutters before fleeing.

- On September 12, a victim had his garage broken into, and various items were stolen.

- On September 15, a victim had his garage broken into, and several bikes were stolen.

Members of the Property Crime Unit continued with the investigation. In addition, they worked with the Central District’s Community Support Unit, who provided a targeted presence in the area and corresponded with residents.

Tips and evidence provided by the neighbourhood were instrumental in helping lead to the identification of a suspect. We thank the community for their assistance.

On September 20, 2022, investigators observed the male suspect leaving an apartment building in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue when they attempted to arrest him. The male pulled away and fled into the building but was apprehended trying to hide inside a suite.

Trevor Scott Favel, a 40-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Break Enter & Theft (x8)
- Break & Enter with Intent
- Break Enter & Steal a Firearm
- Robbery
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x3)
- Disobeying Order of Court
- Resist Peace Officer

He was detained.
