Aggravated Assault – Arrests: C22-220418

On September 22, 2022, at 10:52 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, responded to a hotel in the 300 block of Ellice Avenue for a report of a female that had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located a seriously injured 20-year-old female victim. She was subsequently transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Soon after, two female suspects were located near Balmoral Street and Portage Avenue, at which time they were taken into custody. Two knives were found and seized.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. It is believed that the victim and the two suspects were together at the hotel when an argument escalated to an assault.

Betsy Anne Lorette Budd, a 29-year-old female, has been charged with:

- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order

She was detained.

A 26-year-old female is facing charges of:

- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order

She was released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
