Robbery – Arrests: C22-218310

On September 20, 2022, at 10:00 p.m., West District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, responded to the 200 block of Queen Street for a report of a robbery at gunpoint.

Upon arrival, officers located two victims – a male (in his 20s) and a female (in her 20s). The two friends reported being in the area when confronted at gunpoint by two suspects (a male and a female). Both victims were robbed of their belongings, and the male victim was struck with a firearm.

As a result of the investigation, officers were led to a residence in the 300 block of King Edward Street, where they located two suspects and placed them under arrest. Banking cards belonging to both victims were recovered, and a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle was seized.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.

Detectives identified the male as a suspect in another robbery that occurred on September 19, 2022, at approximately 7:20 p.m. near Berry Street and Ellice Avenue. A male (in his 40s) and a female (in her 40s) were in the area walking when confronted by a male who displayed a firearm in his waistband and robbed them of money.

Byron William Harper, a 32-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Armed Robbery using a Firearm (x2)
- Robbery (x2)
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)

Rayleen Wood, a 24-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Armed Robbery using a Firearm (x2)
- Use of Credit Card

They were detained in custody.
