Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Garfield Street North

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:23 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 900 block of Garfield Street North.

Once on-scene, crews encountered brown smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, bringing the fire under control at 2:41 p.m.

No occupants were in the house at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Crews located one cat on-scene that had succumbed to fire-related injuries.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Burrows Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:37 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, multi-family house in the 500 block of Burrows Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, bringing the fire under control at 6:01 a.m.

One occupant self-evacuated prior to crew arrival, while two additional occupants were evacuated by crews on-scene.

Update on Notre Dame Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) continued operations today at a major structure fire on Notre Dame Avenue.

At 5:53 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, WFPS crews responded to an automatic alarm at the large, single-storey commercial structure in the 1300 block of Notre Dame Avenue. Due to safety concerns, crews fought the fire defensively all morning with the assistance of two aerial ladders and handlines, as well as situational awareness provided by the WFPS drone.

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:53 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to an automatic alarm at a large, single-storey commercial structure in the 1300 block of Notre Dame Avenue. A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on scene due to the size of the structure.

Enforcement of time-limited parking on residential streets resumes November 1

Winnipeg, MB – As part of the City of Winnipeg’s response to COVID-19, enforcement of time limits on all residential streets (except those around Deer Lodge Centre) has been relaxed since March 28, 2020. This temporary measure is set to expire at midnight on October 31, and regular enforcement will resume on November 1, 2021.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on St. Joseph Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:39 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a report of a fire inside a single-story commercial building in the 700 block of St. Joseph Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they observed smoke and flames coming from the building. They launched a defensive attack until it was safe to enter the building and fight the fire offensively. They declared the fire under control at 12:28 a.m.

Crews searched the building and no occupants were located. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Alfred Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:14 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, single-storey duplex in the 600 block of Alfred Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered a well-involved fire that was threatening neighbouring homes. They launched a defensive attack, applying water to affected areas using an aerial ladder and handlines. The fire was declared under control at 1:45 p.m.

Neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
