Winnipeg, MB – At 11:12 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey industrial warehouse with a mezzanine-level in the 2000 block of Logan Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered a well-involved structure fire. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 12:36 p.m..

Most occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Crews assisted a number of occupants in safely evacuating the building. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:10 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey commercial building in the 400 block of Oak Point Highway.

Once on-scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the structure. They entered the building and found fire coming from a paint booth that extended to a wall. They initiated a fire attack, quickly declaring the fire under control at 21:38 p.m..

William Avenue West fire

At 11:56 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 1900 block of William Avenue West.

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:44 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a multi-unit, converted residential dwelling in the 600 block of Young Street.

When WFPS crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the building. An offensive fire attack was initiated and the fire was declared under control by 12:21 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – As part of a second phase of public engagement on the Responsible Pet Ownership By-law, residents are invited to provide input regarding exotic animals and breed-specific legislation.

The bylaw regulates the presence of wild and domesticated animals within Winnipeg to keep both pets and the community safe.

Based on feedback from the first phase, it was determined that additional engagement was required on exotic animals and breed-specific legislation.

Motorists urged to park elsewhere when a residential street is scheduled for snow clearing; residents encouraged to Know Your Zone

Winnipeg, MB – Plowing of residential streets will begin Thursday evening to improve the overall condition of residential streets. As a result, a Residential Parking Ban has been declared and will be in effect starting Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 7 p.m.

Residents are urged to confirm their snow zone letter to determine when their residential street is scheduled for clearing.

Winnipeg, MB – Cornish Library (20 West Gate) is closed due to a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system failure.

It’s anticipated that the library branch will remain closed until at least spring 2022, as it’s expected to take several months to receive a replacement unit due to pandemic-related supply issues.

Winnipeg, MB – City crews are ready to serve and prepared to respond to the forecasted snowfall.

Crews are monitoring road conditions and stand ready to apply sand and salt to improve traction on roadways throughout the city as required. Accumulations of snow will be monitored and further decisions will be made as the weather system passes through the city. Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near heavy equipment.

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:19 a.m. on Monday January 17, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in an apartment building in the 200 block of St. John’s Avenue.

When WFPS crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke in the building. An offensive fire attack was initiated and the fire was declared under control at 1:08 a.m.

Occupants of the building were temporarily evacuated and provided shelter aboard a Winnipeg Transit bus. Most were able to return to their suites once crews completed their work on scene.
