Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires today.
Alfred Avenue Fire
At 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single-family house in the 900 block of Alfred Avenue.
When WFPS crews arrived on scene they encountered a detached structure on the property fully-engulfed in smoke and flames. Crews launched a fire attack while also protecting the adjacent house from fire extension. The fire was declared under control at 11:13 a.m.
Occupants of the house and adjacent structure self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One individual was assessed by on-scene paramedics and transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Talbot Avenue Fire
At 1:40 p.m. on January 6, 2022, the WFPS responded to reports of a garage fire in the 100 block of Talbot Avenue.
Upon arrival at the scene, crews found a well-involved fire in a detached garage. Crews launched an offensive fire attack and declared the fire under control at 2:14 p.m. The fire did not extend to adjacent homes.
One individual was assessed by on-scene paramedics and transported to hospital in unstable condition. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
