Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Magnus Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:37 a.m. on December 16, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey, single-family home in the 1000 block of Magnus Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke throughout the house. An interior, offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 10:04 a.m.

All occupants of the home had self- evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. Firefighters located a cat and two dogs inside the home and brought them to safety. No injuries were reported.

City awards renovation grants to 15 community centres

Winnipeg, MB – Fifteen City-owned community centres will receive funding for renovations through the City of Winnipeg’s Community Centre Renovation Grant (CCRG) program.

“Community centres play an important role in building healthy communities, and it’s essential to keep them accessible, upgraded, and safe,” said Councillor Sherri Rollins, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Protection, Community Services and Parks. “I’m proud to support this initiative that maintains our existing assets and helps strengthen communities.”

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Pilgrim Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:04 p.m. on December 15, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey, single-family home in the 100 block of Pilgrim Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the home. An interior, offensive attack was launched to extinguish the fire which had extended into the attic of the home. It was declared under control at 6:41 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to overnight vehicle and house fires

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:42 p.m. on December 14, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a single vehicle collision near the intersection of Rothesay Street and Donwood Drive with reports of the involved vehicle being on fire with the driver trapped inside. Once on scene, crews found the vehicle engulfed in flames. They quickly knocked down the fire and extricated the driver.

Paramedics transported one patient to hospital in unstable condition.

New Transit fares in effect January 1, 2020

Winnipeg, MB – The public is advised new Winnipeg Transit fares will be in effect on January 1, 2020.

Full cash fares will be $3.00. Senior and Youth cash fares will be $2.50. New rates for tickets and passes will also be in effect January 1, 2020.

2019 bus tickets (plus applicable cash difference) will be accepted until March 31, 2020.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on College Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:53 p.m. on December 10, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 1200 block of College Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 1:33 p.m.
