Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to overnight vehicle and house fires

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:42 p.m. on December 14, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a single vehicle collision near the intersection of Rothesay Street and Donwood Drive with reports of the involved vehicle being on fire with the driver trapped inside. Once on scene, crews found the vehicle engulfed in flames. They quickly knocked down the fire and extricated the driver.

Paramedics transported one patient to hospital in unstable condition.

At 3:19 a.m. on December 15, 2019, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey residence in the 700 block of St. Johns Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke coming from the house. An interior, offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 3:53 a.m.

Crews conducted a search of the home and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time.
