Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Oak Point Highway

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:09 a.m. on December 9, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of fire in a semi-truck and trailer in the 100 block of Oak Point Highway. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the vehicle. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 4:27 a.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Magnus Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:43 p.m. on December 7, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a two-storey home in the 500 block of Magnus Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 1:57 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the home and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Agnes Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:40 p.m. on December 6, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a three-storey, multi-family home in the 600 block of Agnes Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:49 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Crews completed a search of the home and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Temporary closure of Arlington Bridge

Winnipeg, MB – The Arlington Bridge between Dufferin Avenue and Logan Avenue will be temporarily closed on Friday, December 6 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for maintenance repairs.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time, and use alternate routes such as the McPhillips Street Underpass or Slaw Rebchuk Bridge to reach their destinations.

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:55 p.m. on December 4, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant three-storey apartment complex in the 400 block of William Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke and flames coming from the structure and launched an interior, offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 6:42 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Elgin Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:13 p.m. on December 3, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a two-storey, multi-family home in the 300 block of Elgin Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 4:41 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the home and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Wynford Drive

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:55 a.m. on December 2, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a two-storey single family home in the 100 block of Wynford Drive. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered light smoke coming from the attic. They opened up the ceiling and found a small fire and smouldering insulation. The fire was declared extinguished at 6:42 a.m.

Occupants of the home self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Logan Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:46 p.m. on December 1, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a two-storey duplex in the 1100 block of Logan Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and launched an interior, offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 5:09 p.m. The residence suffered moderate smoke, fire and water damage.

Winnipeg Transit presents the Santa Bus

Winnipeg, MB – The Santa Bus is driving holiday spirit starting Sunday, December 1 until Tuesday, December 24.

Winnipeg Transit bus #142 will feature larger-than-life vinyl graphics of Santa and his reindeer. All cash fares and donations collected on the Santa Bus will go directly to the Christmas Cheer Board.

The Santa Bus has been on the road every year since 1985.
