Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on College Avenue

Released: December 10, 2019 at 3 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:53 p.m. on December 10, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 1200 block of College Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 1:33 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Paramedics assessed three patients on scene and transported one of the patients to hospital in stable condition. One firefighter sustained an injury and was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
