Winnipeg, MB – Today, Mayor Brian Bowman announced that 23 community groups will receive funding for community safety and crime prevention activities through the City of Winnipeg's Community Safety and Crime Prevention (CSCP) program.
“I’m pleased to see funding from the new Community Safety and Crime Prevention program being made to support deserving organizations in our community,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “There are unique solutions in neighborhoods across the city and this program will help community organizations make progress toward increasing community safety and preventing crime.”
The CSCP program was established to support community-level activities that strengthen local crime prevention and community safety efforts, promote the exchange of information between community residents, and that help build closer relationships between communities and the Winnipeg Police Service. A total of $100,000 was made available through the program, with projects approved to a maximum of $5,000 per application.

The City received 64 applications during the 2019 intake period. Program applications were evaluated by a Program Award Selection Committee. The committee was comprised of four representatives from Community Services, one representative from the Winnipeg Committee for Safety and one representative from the Winnipeg Police Service. They established evaluation criteria to determine eligibility and to assess the activity’s need and potential benefit to the community.
