Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Pritchard Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:13 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey home in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue.

When crews arrived, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the home. Crews utilized a defensive attack until conditions improved enough to allow for offensive operations inside the home. The fire was declared under control at 3:29 a.m. The home sustained significant smoke, water, and fire damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service update on Pembina high-rise fire

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews have departed the scene of the high-rise fire that started overnight on December 21, 2019 in the 2500 block of Pembina Highway. The WFPS would like to thank residents for their patience with road closures while crews fought the fire, and extend gratitude to the Winnipeg Police Service, Winnipeg Transit, and Water and Waste for their assistance on scene.

As part of WFPS’s response, the WFPS deployed a drone for situational awareness.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to high-rise fire on Pembina Hwy

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:31 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a 15-storey building in the 2500 block of Pembina Highway. A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on the scene, due to the potential for high life hazards when dealing with a high-rise structure.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Home Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:36 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a detached garage in the 500 block of Home Street. Crews launched an offensive attack declaring the fire under control at 6:54 p.m.

No injuries were reported. Damage estimates are not available at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

2020 Winter Speaker Series at the Living Prairie Museum announced

Winnipeg, MB – The Friends of the Living Prairie Museum Winter Speaker Series is set to begin January 14, 2020, and will take place from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. every other Tuesday. An interesting lineup of speakers will present information about their fascinating work.

Registration to attend the sessions begins on January 2, 2020. Friends of the Living Prairie Museum members may register in advance for all dates. Non-members may register two weeks before the event. Space is limited, so please call the museum to save your seats.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to overnight fires on Maryland St. and Redwood Ave.

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:58 a.m. on December 18, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-and-a-half-storey home in the 400 block of Maryland Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered a well-involved fire, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof and windows of the structure. Due to the dangerous conditions, a defensive attack was initiated. The fire was declared under control at 6:30 a.m. but crews expect to be on scene throughout the day extinguishing hot spots.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to house fire on Austin Street North

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:39 a.m. on December 17, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, multi-family home in the 200 block of Austin Street North. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the home. An interior, offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:19 a.m.

All occupants of the home had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on College Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:11 p.m. on December 16, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a four-storey apartment complex in the 200 block of College Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found heavy smoke coming from one of the suites and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 5:39 p.m.

Crews initiated a partial evacuation of the building. No injuries were reported.
