Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Main Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:33 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a four-storey commercial/industrial building in the 800 block of Main Street.

A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on scene, due to the potential for high life hazards and fire extension to neighbouring buildings when dealing with a larger structure.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Wardlaw Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 11 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire at a two-storey house in the 300 block of Wardlaw Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the house, extending to an adjacent commercial structure located in the 100 block of Scott Street.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Smith Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:52 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to an automatic alarm at an eight-storey high-rise hotel in the 300 block of Smith Street.

A second alarm was called due to the potential for high life hazards when dealing with a high-rise structure, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on scene.

New beachfront entry for paddle-craft at La Barrière Park now open

Winnipeg, MB – Today, the City of Winnipeg marked the grand opening of a new beachfront boat launch for canoes, kayaks and other non-motorized watercraft at La Barrière Park.

With approval from the Provincial Waterways Regulatory Branch, the project involved excavation at the water’s edge to install cabled concrete mats for a stable base, which was then covered with sand, and extends into the La Salle River for ease of boat launching.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Adsum Drive

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:34 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a report of a fire inside a single-family, two-storey house in the 200 block of Adsum Drive.

When crews arrived on scene, they quickly knocked down the fire with an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 5:51 p.m.

Occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. One patient was assessed by paramedics on-scene and transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Redwood Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a report of an explosion and fire at a one-and-a-half storey home in the 600 block of Redwood Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a well-involved fire and signs that an explosion had occurred. They launched an offensive attack on the fire, declaring it under control at 12:07 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Smithurst Street and Speers Road

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to fires on Smithurst Smithust Street and Speers Road tonight.

Smithurst Street Fire

At 7:52 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire at a two-storey townhouse complex in the 0-100 block of Smithurst Street.

When crews arrived on scene, smoke and flames were coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 8:17 p.m.

Fire ban for Winnipeg to end tonight

Winnipeg, MB – Effective Wednesday, August 11 at 6 p.m., Winnipeg’s fire ban will end. The City of Winnipeg thanks residents for their compliance throughout the ban.
