Temporary closure of Lagimodiere Boulevard on‑ramp

Winnipeg, MB – The on-ramp from eastbound Concordia Boulevard onto southbound Lagimodiere Boulevard will be inaccessible for three hours this weekend.

The on-ramp will close at 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 29 for maintenance and is scheduled to reopen at around 10 a.m.

Motorists are advised to use alternative access points onto southbound Lagimodiere Boulevard during the closure.

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg’s Fall 2021 Leisure Guide, Leisure Guide Skating brochure, and Leisure Guide Swimming brochure are now available for viewing online . Registration for all fall activities begins Tuesday, August 31 at 8 a.m. for Winnipeg residents. All programming will follow public health guidelines, and is subject to change to reflect updates to the orders.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Elgin Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:34 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey house in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a well-involved fire. Due to the heavy flames and smoke, and damage inside from previous fires in January 2020 and April 2019, they launched a defensive attack from the exterior using aerial water streams. By 1:33 a.m. crews had knocked down most of the fire and were working to extinguish hotspots.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service respond to fires on Manitoba Avenue and Roseberry Street

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two early morning structure fires on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

Manitoba Avenue Fire

At 3:47 a.m., the WFPS responded to a report of a fire inside a one-and-a-half-storey single-family house in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy fire and smoke. They launched a defensive attack until it was safe to enter the house and fight the fire offensively.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Stella Avenue and Fort Street

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires on Sunday, August 22, 2021.

Stella Avenue Fire

At 7:01 p.m., the WFPS responded to a Winnipeg Police Service report of a fire in a vacant two-storey house in the 400 block of Stella Avenue. When crews arrived on scene, they found light smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 7:23 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the building and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Furby Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:49 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-and-a-half-storey house in the 600 block of Furby Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered fire and smoke coming from the structure. Due to high heat and smoke conditions, crews were unable to enter the house so they launched a defensive attack using aerial ladders and water streams. The fire was declared under control at 7:45 a.m.

New amenities open at Crescent Drive Park

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg has officially opened a new pavilion with fully accessible washrooms, and a playground at Crescent Drive Park.

The new $1.5 million pavilion was built in the same location within the park as the former picnic shelter which was originally constructed in the 1960s, and preserves nearby mature trees, park pathways, and views of the park.

The building design combines bright chartreuse walls, and perforated Douglas Fir slat siding, and nearly quadruples the multi-purpose space available to park visitors.

New modernized shelter and washrooms now open to the public at Little Mountain Park

Winnipeg, MB – Today, the City of Winnipeg unveiled a newly modernized shelter and washrooms located at Little Mountain Park, which are now open to the public.

The project involved a complete interior renovation of the shelter building, along with the installation of three all-gender single occupancy washrooms, and a fully accessible universal toilet room.
