Released: August 12, 2021 at 8:18 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a report of an explosion and fire at a one-and-a-half storey home in the 600 block of Redwood Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a well-involved fire and signs that an explosion had occurred. They launched an offensive attack on the fire, declaring it under control at 12:07 a.m.

All occupants of the house self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Four individuals were assessed by on-scene by paramedics and taken to hospital - three in stable condition and one in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.

The incident remains under investigation but preliminary observations suggest it originated with a gas leak that ignited. No damage estimates are available at this time.
