List of Historical Resources

This list protects architecturally and historically significant resources from demolition.

Each resource below will either have a grade, a list of protected character-defining elements, or both. A heritage permit is required before you can alter the character-defining elements or the elements that are protected by a resource’s grade.

Under the previous by-law, heritage buildings were given grades. Each grade represents the level of protection.

Grade I:

  • the entire building, interior and exterior, is protected from demolition and any alteration to the building requires a heritage permit.

Grade II & III:

  • The exterior of the building, its structure, and any listed character defining elements are protected from demolition.
  • Alterations to these areas require a heritage permit.
