Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Renfrew Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:05 a.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey apartment building in the 0 to 100 block of Renfrew Street.

When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 10:51 a.m.

Upcoming temporary road closures

Winnipeg, MB – There are several temporary road closures taking effect in the coming days.

William Avenue

Westbound William Avenue, from McPhillips Street to Arlington Street, will be closed on Monday, July 11 at 7 a.m. until Friday, July 29 at 7 p.m. for a water main renewal project.

Empress Street

Southbound Empress Street East, from East Way to St. John Ambulance Way including the overpass, will be closed on Wednesday, July 13 at 9 a.m. until Saturday, July 16 at 3 p.m. for road construction.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Ruby Street and Inglewood Street

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires this morning.

Ruby Street Fire

At 7:21 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one-and-a-half-storey house in the 200 block of Ruby Street.

When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 8:06 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Wellington Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:18 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey apartment building in the 700 block of Wellington Avenue.

When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 8:41 p.m.

All occupants of the building self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crew. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Stella Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:14 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Stella Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found a well-involved fire, with smoke and flames coming from the structure. A defensive attack was launched as unsafe conditions prevented firefighters from entering the building. Once conditions improved, crews were able to transition to an offensive attack, declaring it under control at 5:11 p.m.

Canada, Manitoba and City of Winnipeg announce new spray pad at Adsum Park

Winnipeg, MB – The Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba, and the City of Winnipeg today announced a project that will bring new recreational amenities to the community of northwest Winnipeg. The project at Adsum Park will include the addition of a new 3,000-square-foot accessible spray pad and other park features.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to two fires on Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 11 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey duplex in the 600 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 11:20 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:58 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire at a two-and-a-half-storey house in the 500 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found smoke coming from the balcony on the exterior of the house. An attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 3:11 p.m.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.
