Mural unveiled at Tyndall Park Community Centre

Winnipeg, MB - At an event this morning, City Councillor Mike Pagtakhan and representatives from the Tyndall Park Community Centre joined the community to unveil a new mural at the Tyndall Park Community Centre.

Skatepark in St. Vital officially named Nancy Allan Skatepark

Winnipeg, MB - At an event this morning, Councillor Brian Mayes officially dedicated the Nancy Allan Skatepark for former St. Vital MLA Nancy Allan.

“I have known Nancy for almost 20 years and it is truly a pleasure to name this skatepark facility – which she helped create – in her honour,” said Brian Mayes, City Councillor for St. Vital.

2017 Winnipeg Wards Boundaries Commission releases draft report

Winnipeg, MB - The 2017 Winnipeg Wards Boundaries Commission (WBC) released its draft report and is inviting members of the public to provide input on the report at a public hearing on November 1, 2017.

The WBC has been established to review the boundaries and names of the 15 Council Wards in the City of Winnipeg, and will hold its final public hearing to allow residents and organizations to provide input on the draft report concerning proposed changes. Following the hearing, the commission will make its final recommendations.

Southbound Empress Street will be temporarily closed between Wellington Avenue and Sargent Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Starting today at 6 p.m., southbound Empress Street between Wellington Avenue and Sargent Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic for re-paving of the roadway. The southbound lane is tentatively scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, October 31. While this work is underway the northbound lane on Empress Street will remain open. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east sidewalk.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and to plan for additional travel time to reach their destinations.

Complete closure of Kenaston Boulevard between Sterling Lyon Parkway and McGillivray Boulevard for railway crossing repair

Winnipeg, MB - Northbound and southbound Kenaston Boulevard between Sterling Lyon Parkway and McGillivray Boulevard will be closed to traffic starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 20 for a railway crossing repair.

For motorists approaching from the north, who need to get to businesses and homes on Rothwell Road and Commerce Drive, local access will be maintained via Kenaston Boulevard. Access to Lindenwood Drive East will be maintained via Lindenwood Drive West off of McGillivray Boulevard.

Kenaston Boulevard will reopen at 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 22.

Upgraded Happyland Park reopens to the public

Winnipeg, MB - At an event this morning, Councillor Matt Allard announced that Happyland Park has now reopened to the public with a number of improvements that will enhance the community's park experience.

"Happyland Park is a hub of the Archwood, Norwood, Dufresne, and wider St. Boniface communities. This upgrade of the park will, in keeping with its name, make many parents, children and residents of all stripes happy for many years to come,” said Matt Allard, City Councillor for St. Boniface.

Public invited to provide input on redevelopment of Transcona skate park

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to an on-site workshop about improvements to a skate park in Victoria Jason Park on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

Over the course of two open houses regarding improvements to Transcona Parks, the skate park was identified by residents as needing significant improvements. The City is seeking public input through a workshop and survey to gather feedback on which skate park obstacles are most desired when renovating the 13-year old skate park.
