City unveils new pedestrian bridge in King's Park

Winnipeg, MB - The replacement of two 30+ year old 15-metre long pedestrian wood bridges located at the King's Park pond is underway. The first bridge located on the north side of the pond has been installed and is open for public use. The second bridge located on the south side of the pond is expected to be installed and open in early November.

Weekend pre-collection of yard waste begins on October 14 & 15

Winnipeg, MB - Due to the large volumes of yard waste placed out for collection this fall, weekend pre-collection of yard waste will begin this weekend. Residents are advised that this will not affect their regular collection schedule, and the collectors will also collect yard waste in all areas on the regularly scheduled collection days.

Collectors will be working on Saturdays and Sundays to pick up yard waste that has been placed out early in areas with yard waste collection regularly scheduled for the following week.

Notre Dame Avenue between Erin Street and Wall Street closed October 13 to 15

Winnipeg, MB - Notre Dame Avenue between Erin Street and Wall Street will be completely closed to eastbound and westbound traffic starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 13 for a CP railway crossing repair. Notre Dame Avenue will reopen at 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 15.

Dakota Community Centre Opens Spectacular New $20.5 Million Fieldhouse

Winnipeg, MB - At a public ceremony today, the Dakota Community Centre in south Winnipeg, officially opened its doors to its new $20.5 million Fieldhouse. Adjacent to the Jonathan Toews Sportsplex, the new Fieldhouse has added 60,000 square feet of exceptional sport, recreational and multi-use space to the Dakota Community Centre Campus.

Both the Province of Manitoba ($7 million) and City of Winnipeg ($6.7 million) have been supporters and funding partners since the sod was turned and construction began in December 2015.

East Transcona celebrates Reykdal Family Park name dedication and enhancements to green space and recreation equipment
