Winnipeg, MB - At an event this morning, Councillor Matt Allard announced that Happyland Park has now reopened to the public with a number of improvements that will enhance the community's park experience.
"Happyland Park is a hub of the Archwood, Norwood, Dufresne, and wider St. Boniface communities. This upgrade of the park will, in keeping with its name, make many parents, children and residents of all stripes happy for many years to come,” said Matt Allard, City Councillor for St. Boniface.
Located at 520 Marion Street, Happyland Park is a community park and an attraction for many Winnipeggers. The Park has a range of activities, including a pool, disc golf course, a play structure and a skateboarding area. Following public engagement sessions and input from stakeholders and the public, improvements to the park now include new play equipment for children ages two to five and five to 12, a new sandbox, a new granular pathway and seating areas, new benches, a new accessible picnic table, a new double-sided bilingual park sign, new barbeques and fire pits, and new trees.
Funding for the project was provided by the City of Winnipeg for a total project cost of approximately $161,000.
