Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:10 pm on July 14, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two and a half storey vacant house in the 400 block of Maryland Street. Once on scene crews found heavy smoke and flames and launched an offensive attack. Due to deteriorating conditions they later transitioned to a defensive strategy. The fire was declared under control at 2:24 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Regent Avenue West

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:05 a.m. on July 14, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one and a half storey, single family home in the 300 block of Regent Avenue West. Once in scene, crews found smoke coming from the attic space. They launched an offensive attack and by 4:34 a.m. declared the fire under control.

The four occupants of the home all safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews after hearing the smoke alarm. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Beverley Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:54 p.m. on July 12, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two storey multi-family home in the 400 block of Beverley Street. Once on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the windows and launched on offensive attack, quickly bringing the fire under control.

Residents and visitors can enjoy free unlimited browsing today in select locations, including areas of libraries, pools, golf courses, and community centres.

This expansion is in addition to the existing Shaw Guest Wi-Fi service which is already available in more than 130 civic facilities. That offering has a data cap of 500 MB/month for non-Shaw Internet customers.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Greenway Crescent Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:03 p.m. on July 11, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey condominium complex in the 100 block of Greenway Crescent. Upon arrival crews found a number of residents working to extinguish a fire involving the exterior facing wall of one of the suites. Firefighters took over, checked for hot spots and completed extinguishing the fire. The fire had not extended into the interior walls of the structure and damage was kept to a minimum.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Carbon Monoxide Incident

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded yesterday to a largescale incident involving many individuals affected by exposure to carbon monoxide gas. This serious incident required an urgent and tactical response by several agencies, including the Winnipeg Police Service, Manitoba Hydro, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, and Shared Health, as well as the WFPS.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Vehicle Compound Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:34 p.m. on July 9, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vehicle compound near the intersection of Paul Boulevard and St. Mary's Road. Upon arrival on scene, crews found five school buses well-involved in fire. An attack was quickly initiated with crews using a WFPS water tanker to shuttle water to the scene as it is located outside of the water district. The fire was declared under control at 5:34 p.m.

Update on gas leak in the 3000 block of Portage Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:19 a.m. the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to an automatic alarm indicating carbon monoxide gas in a hotel in the 3700 block of Portage Avenue. Once on scene, crews detected carbon monoxide of various levels, up to 385 parts per million, throughout the building.
