Winnipeg, MB – At 8:05 a.m. on July 15, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one and a half storey, single family home in the 100 block of Gordon Avenue. Once on scene, crews initiated an offensive attack on the fire, which was primarily located in the attic area of the home. The fire was declared under control at 8:47 a.m. The house suffered significant fire, smoke, and water damage.
All occupants of the home self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Primary observations suggest it may have been caused by a lightning strike during this morning’s thunderstorm. No damage estimates are available at this time.
