Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:10 pm on July 14, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two and a half storey vacant house in the 400 block of Maryland Street. Once on scene crews found heavy smoke and flames and launched an offensive attack. Due to deteriorating conditions they later transitioned to a defensive strategy. The fire was declared under control at 2:24 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the house and no occupants were found. One firefighter was assessed and treated by paramedics on scene for heat exhaustion. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
