Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Austin Street North and Pembina Highway

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:02 a.m. on November 17, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a two and a half storey multi-family house in the 200 block of Austin Street North. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 2:51 a.m. The house suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Cambridge Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:27 a.m. on November 16, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a garage attached to a two and a half storey home in the 400 block of Cambridge Street. Once on scene crews encountered heavy smoke and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 11:47 a.m. It did not extend into the home.

Occupants of the home and garage had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Corydon Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:46 p.m. on November 15, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a two-storey multi-family complex in the 800 block of Corydon Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found light smoke coming from a suite on the second floor, the result of an oven fire which had been partly extinguished by one of the building tenants. Crews completed extinguishment of the fire and worked to ventilate smoke from the building. The suite sustained significant smoke damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a garage fire on Inglis Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:48 p.m. on November 12, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in a detached garage in the 0-100 block of Inglis Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage.

Crews launched an offensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 7:26 p.m. Two nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution and those residents are expected to return to their homes once crews complete their work on scene. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Burrows Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:11 p.m. on November 11, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of fire in two-storey townhouse complex in the 1700 block of Burrows Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews found smoke and fire in a kitchen in one of the suites. An offensive attack was launched and at 8:20 p.m. the fire was declared under control. Smoke and fire damage was contained to the single suite.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on St. Anne's Road

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:18 a.m. on November 9, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of fire in a large garage in the 400 block of St. Anne's Road. Once on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames. An attack was launched and at 10:37 a.m. the fire was declared under control.

A small neighbouring apartment complex was evacuated as a precaution. Occupants will be able to return to their building once crews complete their work on scene.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to two morning fires

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:50 a.m. on November 8, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of an industrial fire in a tire recycling plant in the 1400 block of Dublin Avenue. Once on scene, crews determined there was fire burning inside of a large silo which was partly filled with rubber and salt. The fire was contained with no risk of it spreading to nearby piles of tires.

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is asking Winnipeggers to provide feedback on our city’s street lighting system.

As part of a city-wide study into the efficacy and value of our street lighting system, the City today launched a survey to determine how our street lights are performing, whether any areas in particular are under- or over-serviced, and what Winnipeggers feel are priorities in terms of lighting.
