Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg has released the Financial Status and Forecast Report to June 30, 2020 and also updated its analysis of the potential economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Winnipeg. Both of these reports are being presented at the meeting of the Standing Policy Committee on Finance (SPC-Finance) on September 15, 2020.
Winnipeg, MB – Northbound Hargrave Street between St. Mary Avenue and Graham Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 10 for water repairs. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Access to the parkade at 266 Hargrave will be maintained via Donald Street and Graham Avenue.
Motorists should allow for additional travel time, and use alternate routes to reach their destinations.
Winnipeg, MB – At 5:43 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey home in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:33 a.m.
All occupants safely self-evacuated prior to crew arrival and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:17 p.m. on September 7, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in the 0-100 block of Viking Road. When crews arrived on scene they encountered a well-involved fire with flames and smoke coming from the home.
Crews shuttled water to the scene in tankers because the home is located outside the water district. The fire was declared under control at 2:58 p.m.
Winnipeg, MB – At 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a house fire in the 300 block of Harbison Avenue West.
When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 2:41 a.m.
No injuries were reported and no damage estimates are available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Reminder: high winds expected, open-air fires not permitted
Winnipeg, MB – At 4:13 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a hazardous material incident in the 100 block of Sidney Smith Street.
When crews arrived on scene, the hazardous materials team recorded readings of ammonia at 35 parts per million (ppm). Crews evacuated the building and then safely ventilated the building. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is offering reduced Leisure Guide programming this fall. The Fall 2020 Leisure Guide will be available online as of September 15, along with the skating and swimming lesson brochures. A limited number of printed Leisure Guides will also be available at City facilities.
Winnipeg, MB – The Jubilee Overpass at Pembina Highway will be closed overnight on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights, September 8 and 9 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for street lighting repairs.
Motorists must use alternate routes to reach their destinations during these timeframes.
