Winnipeg, MB – At 4:13 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a hazardous material incident in the 100 block of Sidney Smith Street.
When crews arrived on scene, the hazardous materials team recorded readings of ammonia at 35 parts per million (ppm). Crews evacuated the building and then safely ventilated the building. No injuries were reported.
Alfred Avenue
At 8:40 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey house in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered flames and smoke coming from the house.
Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:10 p.m. Crews searched the home and confirmed there were no people inside. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
