Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Manitoba Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:16 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in duplex in the 900 block of Manitoba Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 12:19 p.m.

All occupants of the house self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One individual was assessed by on-scene paramedics and transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Upcoming road closures: September 6-17

Winnipeg, MB – Portions of several Winnipeg streets will be closed beginning next week.

Southbound Princess Street from Ross Avenue to William Avenue will close on Monday, September 6 at 9 a.m. until late Tuesday, September 7. It is expected to be fully reopened for the Wednesday morning rush. Parking will be removed throughout the closure and the sidewalk on the east side of the street will also be inaccessible.

Road closures to accommodate Manitoba Marathon

Winnipeg, MB – A number of Winnipeg streets will be temporarily closed this weekend to accommodate the Manitoba Marathon.

Chancellor Matheson Road – Research Way to University Crescent will close at 2 a.m. on September 4 and reopen at 3 p.m. on September 5.

The following streets will be closed from 2 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 5:

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Martin Avenue West

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:38 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, single-family house in the 400 block of Martin Avenue West.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered light smoke coming from the structure. They launched an offensive attack, knocking down the blaze and declaring the fire under control at 2:05 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Boyd Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:29 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. Initially they launched a defensive attack but were able to transition to an interior offensive attack when it became safe to enter the building. The fire was declared under control at 7:03 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported.
