Every year, countless Winnipeggers turn to charitable organizations for a helping hand. City of Winnipeg employees are able to give back to the community they serve through the City of Winnipeg Charitable Fund (CWCF).

In 2023, employees and retirees raised nearly $360,000 for local charities.

“As City employees, we should all be proud of what we’ve accomplished to make a difference in Winnipeg,” said Kirstian Lezubski, CWCF Chair.

Through the CWCF, employees can make a recurring donation or a one-time gift to their charity of choice. They can also contribute directly to the CWCF. Those donations are divided equally between the United Way and the Winnipeg Foundation.

Employees can choose to donate as much or as little as they feel comfortable with. There is no requirement to donate, and all donations are tax-deductible.

“This is a time to pull through to support our community. Every donation helps a fellow Winnipegger in need,” said Lezubski.

The CWCF’s 2024-2025 fundraising campaign kicked off this week with the return of the annual Fire Engine Pull. Each department put together a team and competed to see who could pull the truck the quickest. Team costumes and cheers were encouraged.

The event was held over employees’ lunch hour. The Community Services Department’s team won the fastest time.
