Local charitable organizations make a real difference for Winnipeggers in need. The City of Winnipeg Charitable Fund (CWCF) is one way City employees support the people and causes that strengthen our community.
In 2025, employees and retirees raised more than $332,000 through the CWCF in support of local charities.
“As City employees, we should all be proud of what we’ve accomplished to make a difference in Winnipeg,” said Kirstian Lezubski, CWCF Chair.
The CWCF makes it easy for employees to support local charitable organizations. They can make a one-time or recurring donation to their charity of choice.
Employees can also donate directly to the CWCF, which equally shares those donations between the United Way Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Foundation.
Employees can choose to donate as much or as little as they feel comfortable with. There is no requirement to donate, and all donations are tax-deductible.
“This is a time to pull together to support our community,” said Lezubski. “Every donation helps a fellow Winnipegger in need.”
Ready, set, pull!
The CWCF kicked off its 2026-2027 fundraising campaign this week with the return of the annual Fire Engine Pull.
Held over employees’ lunch hour, 19 teams put their strength, speed, and teamwork to the test as they raced to pull a fire engine across the finish line. Costumes, cheers, and team spirit added to the friendly competition.

The Fire Engine Pull is just the start of this year’s campaign. Throughout the year, employees will have opportunities to support charities and the people and causes they care about the most.
