Drug & Weapon Offences – Arrests: C22-132080

On June 17, 2022, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit entered into an investigation regarding two individuals believed to be trafficking fentanyl and illegally possessing firearms.

At approximately 8 p.m., investigators, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and other units, executed a pair of search warrants at a residence in the 100 block of Charles Street.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of a number of items, including the following:

- A loaded sawed-off shotgun with ammunition

Weapons – Arrest: C22-133397

On June 18, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to the area of Old Market Square (Winnipeg Jazz Festival Venue) for the report of a male armed with a handgun.

Officers of the Central District located the suspect and placed him under arrest without incident.

Officers seized the following items from the accused:

- Crosman BB Handgun
- Knife

Dylan Duran CARIBOU, 23, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Weapon x 2

Aggravated Assault – Arrest: C22-132892

On June 18, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 100 block of Burrows Avenue for the report of a male who had been stabbed.

Officers from the North District attended and located an adult male suffering from a life-threatening injury. Officers provided immediate emergency medical care until the arrival of paramedics. The 44-year-old victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable. He remains in hospital.

Strongarm Robbery – Arrests: C22-131657

On June 17, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 1700 block of Pembina Highway for the report of a female who had been robbed.

Officers from the West District attended and located the 23-year-old victim suffering from injuries. Ambulance personnel attended and treated the victim.

Officers subsequently identified and arrested two of the three suspects in the Wildwood Park area without incident.

The Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and on June 18, arrested a third suspect at her residence.

Community Notification

The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU) is a joint forces unit of the Winnipeg Police Service and the RCMP. MIHRSOU today provides information regarding Winston George THOMAS, 45 years of age, a convicted sex offender who is considered high risk to re‑offend in a sexual and/or sexually violent manner against all females, both adults and children.

Officer-Involved Shooting: C22-132237

On June 17, 2022, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a member of the Winnipeg Police Service had an officer-involved incident with a male in the area of Salter Street and Mountain Avenue.

The male was transported to hospital in critical condition, and succumbed to his injuries.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been notified and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

"Project Precious" Catalytic Converter – Arrests: R22-18296

In response to the increase in catalytic converter thefts, the Winnipeg Police Service's Property Crime Unit, entered into a four-month investigation called "Project Precious." This project was named after the precious and lucrative metals found in the composition of a catalytic converter.

The investigation led to a scrapyard believed to be purchasing stolen catalytic converters. Both the buyers and the sellers of these stolen devices were profiting financially.

Officer-Involved Shooting: C22-132237

On June 17, 2022, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a member of the Winnipeg Police Service had an officer-involved incident with a male in the area of Salter Street and Mountain Avenue.

The male was transported to hospital in critical condition, and succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide - Arrest / Public Assistance Requested: C22-105926

As previously released:

On May 19, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of an injured female located at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Kennedy Street.

The deceased victim was identified as Doris Lydia TROUT, 25, of Winnipeg.

Update:

Two suspects were identified relating to TROUT’s murder.

On June 7, Homicide investigators arrested and charged Meagan Leigh BEAULIEU, 27, of Winnipeg with the following offences:
