Homicide – Investigation: C22-129764

Update;

The Homicide Unit took over an investigation regarding an adult male stabbed in the 2300 block of Pembina Highway on June 15, 2022.

Investigators believe the accused and the victim, known to one another, were involved in a verbal argument, when the victim was stabbed. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

Officers of the West District located the injured victim and provided emergency medical care.

Officers identified a suspect and arrested him in a nearby residence without incident.

The deceased victim has now been identified as Wilbert Junior HARPER, 33, of Winnipeg.

Floyd Alex CHARTRAND, 43, of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Manslaughter
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Warrant for Theft Under $5000

He was detained in custody.

As previously released:

On June 15, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of an injured male lying on the sidewalk in the 2300 block of Pembina Highway.

Officers from the West District attended and discovered a male who had been stabbed.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
