On June 18, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 100 block of Burrows Avenue for the report of a male who had been stabbed.
Officers from the North District attended and located an adult male suffering from a life-threatening injury. Officers provided immediate emergency medical care until the arrival of paramedics. The 44-year-old victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable. He remains in hospital.
The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, identified a suspect, and at approximately 2:30 p.m., safely placed him under arrest in the 800 block of Main Street.
Investigators believe the victim, who resides with the suspect, was stabbed without provocation.
A 21-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
- Resist Peace Officer
He was detained in custody.
