Drugs/Weapon – Arrests: C22-225945

On September 29, 2022, at approximately midnight, General Patrol officers of the North District observed a vehicle with unmatched license plates travelling on Burrows Avenue contrary to regulations of the Highway Traffic Act.

Officers executed a traffic stop in the 700 block of Burrows Avenue and observed two occupants and signs indicative of drug trafficking. An adult male driver and an adult female passenger were safely arrested, and officers entered a drug investigation.

Aggravated Assault – Arrest: C22-226016

On September 29, 2022, at 3:34 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Sherbrook Street for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an injured male (in his 50s) outside a residential building. He was subsequently transported to a hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.

It is believed that a group had forced their way into a suite when the victim was sprayed with bear spray and shot.

Suspicious Death – Investigation: C22-227027

On September 30, 2022, at 8:23 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of Balmoral Street for a report of suspicious circumstances.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male outside of a residence. His death is considered suspicious at this time.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Assault Weapon/Police Officer – Investigation: C22-224369

Yesterday at approximately 1:30 p.m., an off-duty police officer travelling on a bus downtown identified himself as an officer and intervened when two males started an altercation with another lone male passenger. The male passenger exited at Graham/ Fort, and one of the other males followed him and began assaulting him.

Weapons – Arrest: C22-224942

On September 28, 2022, just after midnight, officers patrolling the Westend observed a male ride through a red light at Ellice/Maryland, refusing to stop for police. The suspect fell off the bike and continued to run away. After a short foot pursuit, he was taken into custody.

He was identified, and two warrants came to light. A search revealed he had ammunition, knives and bear spray, contrary to a court order.

Firearm – Arrest: C22-224494

On September 27, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Downtown Community Support officers patrolled the 600 block of Sargent Avenue as part of a crime suppression initiative.

Officers observed a male crossing the intersection of Sargent/Agnes. His manner of walking was consistent with someone who may be armed and concealing a firearm. The male was identified, and an outstanding warrant came to light.

Break, Enter and Firearms – Arrest: C22-184939

In August of 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service learned of several firearms stored within a storage locker in the 800 block of Waverley Street.

The Property Crime Unit assumed the investigation and identified a suspect male with access to the storage unit.

Animal Cruelty – Arrest: C22-223624

On September 26, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 700 block of Wellington Avenue for the report of an injured animal.

Officers from the Central District attended and located an adult female and an eight-month-old kitten under her care suffering from severe bodily injuries. Officers arrested the adult female without incident and transported the injured kitten to a veterinary hospital, where emergency surgery was performed. The kitten required euthanization due to its injuries.

Weapons – Arrest: C22-223757

On September 26, 2022, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to Isabel Street and Pacific Avenue for the report of gunshots and a male armed with a gun.

Central District General Patrol officers assisted Tactical Support and the K9 Units, attended the area, and observed the male suspect armed with a firearm. The male immediately fled on foot and was pursued to a residence in the 500 block of Alexander Avenue. Officers safely arrested the male suspect inside the residence without incident.

Drugs – Arrest: C22-223839

In response to community concern regarding suspected drug trafficking in the St. John neighbourhood, the North District Community Support Unit entered a drug investigation.

On September 26, 2022, Community Support officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and General Patrol, executed a search warrant at a residential suite in the 300 block of Machray Avenue.

As a result of this investigation, an adult female was taken into custody, and the following items were seized:
