Assault Weapon/Police Officer – Investigation: C22-224369

Yesterday at approximately 1:30 p.m., an off-duty police officer travelling on a bus downtown identified himself as an officer and intervened when two males started an altercation with another lone male passenger. The male passenger exited at Graham/ Fort, and one of the other males followed him and began assaulting him.

The officer exited the bus and intervened in the assault, and the suspect took off running. The officer pursued him on foot, and a nearby construction worker intervened and assisted in bringing the suspect to the ground. The suspect bear sprayed the officer and the assisting male, then continued to flee on foot.

No arrests have been made, and this investigation has been turned over to the Major Crimes Unit for follow-up.
