Firearm – Arrest: C22-224494

On September 27, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Downtown Community Support officers patrolled the 600 block of Sargent Avenue as part of a crime suppression initiative.

Officers observed a male crossing the intersection of Sargent/Agnes. His manner of walking was consistent with someone who may be armed and concealing a firearm. The male was identified, and an outstanding warrant came to light.

As police attempted to take him into custody, he resisted arrest, and a struggle occurred, revealing a loaded sawed-off shotgun strapped to his leg. He was also in possession of some ammunition and drugs.

William Wayne Charles MURDOCK (25) of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

- Carrying a Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
- Possession of a Weapon
- Resist Peace Officer
- Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Scheduled Substance – Fentanyl
- Warrant: Fail to Comply Probation Order

MURDOCK was detained in custody.
