Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to two fires on Maryland Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 11 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey duplex in the 600 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 11:20 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:58 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire at a two-and-a-half-storey house in the 500 block of Maryland Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found smoke coming from the balcony on the exterior of the house. An attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 3:11 p.m.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Albina Way and Magnus Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two fires overnight, and a third fire from a previously extinguished fire this morning.

Albina Way Fires

At 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in the two-storey unit of a one-storey-two-storey duplex in the 100 block of Albina Way.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered fire and smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 12:33 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Stella Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a report of a fire in a single-storey triplex in the 500 block of Stella Avenue called in by members of the Winnipeg Police Service on patrol.

Once on-scene, fire crews encountered smoke coming from a floor of one of the units. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 12:41 a.m.

No occupants were found in the units and no injuries were reported.

City begins Emerald Ash Borer treatment

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg will begin its Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) treatment program on Monday, July 4, 2022, weather permitting.

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:17 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to an automatic alarm at a commercial building in the 100 block of Cree Crescent.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered smoke coming from a manufacturing area. The building’s fire suppression system was activated, which helped to confine the fire. Crews launched an offensive attack, extinguishing the fire. They declared the fire under control at 8:23 a.m..

Registration Period for Councillor candidates opens June 30

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is advising that the campaign period for Winnipeg residents seeking election to the Office of City Councillor will begin tomorrow, June 30 at 8:30 a.m.

The 2022 City of Winnipeg Municipal and School Boards Election is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Eligible voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot for Mayor, Councillor, and School Trustees.

Winnipeg's Indigenous Accord welcomes new partners in commitment to the Journey of Reconciliation

Winnipeg, MB – Today, 26 additional local organizations and businesses joined the City of Winnipeg and the other 196 signatories in their commitment to the ongoing Journey of Reconciliation in Winnipeg by formally becoming partners of Winnipeg’s Indigenous Accord at a signing ceremony held at Oodena Celebration Circle located at The Forks. Today’s signatories bring the total number of Accord partners to 222 and demonstrates a strong community commitment to Winnipeg’s Journey of Reconciliation.
