Tee time reservations open at 2 p.m. today, still spots available in both men’s and women’s golf leagues

Winnipeg, MB – City of Winnipeg golf courses will start opening for the season on Friday, May 6. Course openings and availability of certain holes will be staggered as course conditions allow and water levels recede at Kildonan Park and Windsor Park golf courses.

Mayor Bowman Announces Rededication Plaque in Honour of World Press Freedom Day

Winnipeg, MB – In honour of World Press Freedom Day, Mayor Bowman announced plans for a new plaque to be installed in the City Hall Media Centre that will rededicate the space to all who serve in Winnipeg’s professional media. With funding from the Mayor’s Office budget, the Media Centre has been renovated, restored and equipped with new lighting, seating and technology to meet the needs of a modern era of reporting.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on St. John’s Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 12:16 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey house in the 200 block of St. John’s Avenue after members of the Winnipeg Police Service spotted the fire and called it in.

Once on-scene, WFPS crews found a house well-involved in fire. They launched an offensive attack, entering the building and locating and addressing fire extensions. The fire was declared under control at 1:17 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Greenwood Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At approximately 6:16 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a bungalow in the 0-100 block of Greenwood Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered a well-involved fire with smoke and flames coming from three sides of the building. The structural integrity of the house was also compromised. Due to safety concerns, they launched a defensive attack, hitting the fire from multiple angles and protecting exposures. The fire was declared under control at 6:59 a.m.

City of Winnipeg crews prepared to address forecasted heavy rainfall

Winnipeg, MB – City of Winnipeg crews stand ready to address the forecasted heavy rainfall. Over the coming days, as required, crews will be engaged in a wide range of activities around the clock, and based on level of priority, including clearing ditches, catch basins, and culverts of debris so that water can drain more effectively, as well as monitoring pumping and lift stations, and operating the sewer system and drainage network to move water as efficiently as possible.
