Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two fires overnight, and a third fire from a previously extinguished fire this morning.

Albina Way Fires

At 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in the two-storey unit of a one-storey-two-storey duplex in the 100 block of Albina Way.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered fire and smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 12:33 a.m.

Two occupants and one dog self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported.

At 8:57 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in the same unit.

Upon arrival, crews found the structure heavily involved in fire. They deployed exterior lines to prevent fire spread and conducted an interior offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 9:56 a.m.

The two-storey unit was unoccupied at the time of the second fire. Occupants of the neighbouring unit self-evacuated. No injuries were reported.

As a result of both fires, the two-storey unit is expected to be a total loss. The single-storey unit suffered smoke and water damage.

The cause of both fires is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Magnus Avenue Fire
