Winnipeg, MB – At 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a bungalow in the 1400 block of Loudoun Road.
When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered a well-involved fire, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Crews launched a defensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 7:39 a.m. As the home is located outside the City of Winnipeg water district, WFPS water tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:14 a.m. on May 10, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a structure in Giizhigooweyaabikwe Park at 242 Lizzie St.
When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. An attack was launch and the fire was declared under control at 2:31 a.m.
Crews completed a search of the building and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
Winnipeg, MB – Today, at City Hall, a Key to the City was presented to Dr. Cindy Blackstock, who has been a tireless advocate for Indigenous children for over 30 years.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. They attacked the fire from the exterior of the building before launching an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 1:31 a.m.
Winnipeg, MB – There are several temporary road closures in effect in the coming days:
Northbound Hargrave Street, from St. Mary Avenue to Graham Avenue, will be closed on Sunday, May 8 from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. for building construction.
Westbound Jubilee Avenue, from Cockburn Street to Osborne Street, will be closed on Sunday, May 8 at 7 a.m. until Friday, October 14 at 3 p.m. for road construction. The south sidewalk will remain open.
Winnipeg, MB – At 3:54 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of an individual in the Red River near the Fort Garry Bridge and St. Vital Park.
One of the residents who called 911 maintained a sightline of the individual until crews arrived and were able to direct the crews to the appropriate location.
Using specialized equipment, water rescue crews entered the water and brought the individual to shore.
The patient was transported to hospital in stable condition by on-scene paramedics.
Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg has commenced this year’s insect control season focusing on a targeted, environmentally friendly mosquito larviciding program which is the most effective approach to control mosquitoes. Larviciding targets mosquito larvae in the aquatic stage before they emerge as adult mosquitoes.
