Registration Period for Councillor candidates opens June 30

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is advising that the campaign period for Winnipeg residents seeking election to the Office of City Councillor will begin tomorrow, June 30 at 8:30 a.m.

The 2022 City of Winnipeg Municipal and School Boards Election is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Eligible voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot for Mayor, Councillor, and School Trustees.

The City Clerk’s Department, located on the main floor of the Susan A. Thompson Building, 510 Main Street, will be open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. Individuals who wish to register as City Councillor candidates must register in-person with the Senior Election Official and are encouraged to make an appointment in advance.

The deadline for registration is Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. All candidates who wish to register must ensure the required information is included with their registration form. The list of requirements can be found in the Campaign Expenses and Contributions Guide.

Candidates must be registered prior to soliciting or collecting any campaign funding, expending any funds on their campaign (such as advertising), or borrowing funds.

The list of candidates will be published on the election website and updated as registrations are received.
