Released: July 4, 2022 at 6:19 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:14 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant one-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Stella Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found a well-involved fire, with smoke and flames coming from the structure. A defensive attack was launched as unsafe conditions prevented firefighters from entering the building. Once conditions improved, crews were able to transition to an offensive attack, declaring it under control at 5:11 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries have been reported.

The fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Crews remain on scene at this time extinguishing hotspots. Stella Avenue and one southbound lane on Salter Street are impacted. Residents are asked to avoid the area.
