Winnipeg, MB – At 1:33 a.m. on July 16, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant bungalow in the 1900 block of Alexander Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found the fire had spread to a neighbouring vacant house. Both houses were fully engulfed in flames. Crews initially launched a defensive attack, but were able to transition to an offensive attack once fire conditions improved. The fire was declared under control by 2:45 a.m.
Crews completed searches of both houses and no occupants were found. Residents from two adjacent houses were evacuated as a temporary precaution and were able to return to their homes once it was safe to do so.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
